AdvocacyWe advocate for Idaho's existing state park system and champion the development of new state park opportunities. Friends of Idaho state parks closely follows the activities of the Idaho Park and Recreation Board, the Idaho State Legislature, and other entities which may have positive and negative impacts on Idaho's parks.
We alert our followers when action needs to be taken to protect or enhance Idaho's park system. |
SupportFriends of Idaho State Parks assists the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation in procuring and managing funds to benefit our state parks.
As a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit, we are able to pursue and accumulate funding that would be difficult for a state agency to manage. We are always on the lookout for grant opportunities that may assist individual parks and we seek financial and non-partisan support from the public. |
EducationWe provide continuing education for Idaho teachers in many natural resource-related subjects through in-park teacher workshops.
We develop and distribute social media content, group presentations, and a regular newsletter about the parks. Writers at Harriman is probably the best known program of Friends of Idaho State Parks. The week-long writing camp for high school students takes place each summer at Harriman State Park. |
